HAVE YOU EVER…

By Danli

Have you ever locked eyes with someone and, in that instant, felt the world shift? Not in a cliché, romanticized way, but in a way that rattles your very core. Their presence is magnetic, their energy undeniable. The way they carry themselves—every movement purposeful, every glance filled with something unspoken—commands attention without even trying. You don’t just notice them; you feel them!

They are the ones who stand apart, untouched by the background noise of the world. Confidence drapes over them like armor, but it’s their essence that lingers. The way they speak, how they listen, the weight of their silence—it all holds you hostage in the best way. You wonder what makes them so different. Were they born this way? Have they mastered the art of being seen? Or is it something deeper, something you’ll never fully grasp? I’m still trying to understand it al honestly.

And yet… on the opposite end of the spectrum lies a different kind of impact.

Have you ever needed someone—really needed them—only to turn around and find them gone? Maybe you reached for them in a moment of unraveling, your voice laced with the kind of desperation you never wanted to show. Maybe you needed validation, for someone to say, Yes, this happened to you. Yes, your pain is real. Yes, I see you. But instead, you were met with silence… silence that rattles your mind in every second, minute, hour, that this person chooses to ignore your cries as they share the air with you.

It’s a cruel thing, isn’t it? The way absence can cut just as deep as presence. The ones who leave, whether by choice or circumstance, leave behind an emptiness that echoes. You tell yourself you don’t need them, that you’ll be fine, that you can navigate the storm alone. But some nights, when the weight of everything settles onto your chest, you wonder: Was I ever truly seen? Was I ever worth staying for? Was it a lie when they said “I love you”

Maybe that’s the irony of it all. The ones who mesmerize us upon first glance often never realize the power they hold. And the ones we expect to be there in our darkest hours sometimes turn out to be nothing more than shadows. Sometimes, both of those are wrapped up in one person. The one who captivates you can also be the one to leave you hurting the most.

Life is strange like that.
