Hard Times Are Temporary — Don’t Let a Season Become Your Identity

By Danli Divine

One thing life has taught me over and over again is this:

Hard times are temporary.
But when you’re inside the storm, it feels permanent.
Pain has a way of convincing you that things will never change. Stress makes you feel trapped. Betrayal makes you question people. Depression makes you question yourself.

I know because I’ve lived it.

There was a time in my life when everything felt heavy. Transitioning out of the Marines was one of the hardest periods I ever experienced. A lot of people only see the uniform, discipline, and strength—but they don’t always see what happens mentally when that chapter ends. The Marines gave me structure. Mission. Brotherhood. Identity.
So easing back into civilian life wasn’t easy at all.

There were moments where I felt disconnected from people around me because they couldn’t understand the mentality I carried. In the military, you’re trained to stay alert, disciplined, and prepared for pressure. Then suddenly you’re expected to reintegrate into a completely different world like nothing changed.

But you did change!

I had to learn how to slow down mentally. How to process emotions differently. How to rebuild purpose outside of service.
And honestly, some days were rough.
Then life hit me from another angle.

The court situation involving Batman and Michelle tested me in ways I can’t even fully explain (mainly because of the witchcraft). Being lied on is one of the most frustrating feelings a person can experience—especially when you know your heart, your intentions, and your truth. It’s draining emotionally because you realize that truth alone does not stop people from creating narratives. That situation brought stress. Anger. Confusion. Exhaustion.

There were moments where I questioned why certain battles were even happening in my life. Moments where it felt like I was constantly having to defend my character instead of simply living in peace.

But here’s what I learned:

Storms reveal strength you didn’t know you had.
Those experiences forced me to grow mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. They taught me patience. They taught me discernment. They taught me how to stand firm in my truth without letting bitterness consume me.

And now when I look at my life today, I realize something powerful:

None of those hard moments lasted forever.
Today, I’m blessed with a beautiful family. I’m a father of two incredible children. I’ve been married for 8 years. I became a six-figure earner. I built Divine Time Podcast and Blog into a platform where I can speak life into people and create authentic conversations that help others feel seen and understood.

And the beautiful thing is— all of this was being built during the struggle. That’s what people don’t realize. Sometimes your greatest blessings are growing underneath the surface while life looks chaotic above ground. Growth is uncomfortable. Healing is uncomfortable. Transition is uncomfortable. But temporary discomfort can create permanent wisdom.

If you’re going through a hard season right now, I want you to understand this:

Do not build your identity around your current pain.
Your struggle is a chapter. Not the entire story.
You may feel stuck today and successful tomorrow.
You may feel broken today and healed years later.
You may feel lost today and become the very person others look to for guidance later on.

Life changes.
Seasons change.
People evolve.
And sometimes the version of yourself being created through hardship is preparing you for blessings you can’t even imagine yet.
Keep going.

One day you’ll look back at the pain that almost broke you and realize it actually built you. And this is what I mean when I say “everything is a lesson and a blessing”

Relax your mind, it’s Divine Time
